WHAT IS THE CLM?
WHO WE ARE
WHY THE CLM?
MISSIONS THROUGH BUSINESS
TERRA NOSTRA CAFE
In the CLM we call the people receiving mission coaching, "Timothy." That's why before starting our sessions, we study the life of Timothy and his exemplary service, and we relate it to your life as a servant of God.
1. Read Acts 16:1-5; 19:22
Timothy was a young man chosen by Paul to accompany him as a helper in his missionary trips. (Acts 16:1, 19:22) He was a disciple of Christ and Paul saw his potential.
What do you notice about Timothy? Mention three characteristics in him that you think are relevant.
How do you think Timothy's background influenced his ministry in a world full of Grecians?
Through Timothy, Paul, and Silas the churches were strengthened and expanded. (Acts 16:5) In the same way, we believe that God is going to use you to strengthen and expand the organization where you are going to serve. It may be difficult, but God wants to work in and through you.
2. Read Philippians 2:19-23
What else can you identify in Timothy's life and character?
What is Jesus interested in?
Who are you worried about? Take a moment to pray for an individual or a group of people you are worried about.
3. Read 1 Timothy 4:12.
Take a moment to reflect on the following:
How you talk
How you behave
How you love
In what areas is it easy to be a good example?
In what areas is it difficult?
Remember you don't become a good example by your own efforts. As long as you walk with God and grow en your relationship with Him, He is the one who will transform you into becoming more and more like Jesus. He loves you without condition, and He wants you to love Him with all your soul.
4. Timothy made sacrifices.
He left his family and culture, dedicated his time, let Paul circumcise him (Acts 16:3). This shows that he was willing to make sacrifices for the sake of the Gospel.
Read Luke 14: 25-33. Consider that in order to serve God, you may need to sacrifice some things that are important to you, like time, money, comfort, culture, reputation, etc.
Are you willing to pay the cost of serving God? Talk to Him about it.
Read 2 Timothy 2:2.
In his last letter to Timothy, Paul gives him this charge: How many generations of believers does Paul mention? What does this imply?
Why has the LCM decided to call volunteers "Timothy"?
Read 1 and 2 Timothy to learn more about Timothy and the advice and instructions Paul gave him.
